What is MCOT?
Mobile Cardiac Telemetry (MCOT) is an advanced, continuous heart monitoring system that tracks your heart rhythm in real-time over extended periods — typically 1 to 30 days. Unlike traditional Holter monitors, MCOT provides immediate analysis and alerts for abnormal heart rhythms as they occur.
Colonial Heart uses state-of-the-art MCOT devices to ensure accurate detection of arrhythmias, enabling timely intervention and improved heart health outcomes.
Why It's Important
MCOT is especially valuable for diagnosing and managing conditions such as:
- Intermittent arrhythmias that may be missed on EKG or Holter monitors
- Unexplained fainting or dizziness
- Palpitations or rapid heartbeats
- Assessing the effectiveness of cardiac medications
- High-risk patients needing continuous heart rhythm surveillance
What to Expect
You will wear a small, wireless device attached to electrodes on your chest. The device transmits your heart rhythm continuously to a secure monitoring center. You can carry on with your daily routine while the system monitors your heart in real-time.
If any abnormal rhythm is detected, Dr. Prewitt receives immediate alerts and can take appropriate action. After completing the monitoring period, a full data review and detailed report with recommendations is provided.
