Holter Monitoring
A Holter monitor is a portable device that continuously records your heart's electrical activity, usually over 24 to 48 hours. Unlike a standard EKG, it tracks your heart rhythm during your normal daily activities, providing a more complete picture of your heart's performance.
Our clinic uses advanced digital Holter monitors to ensure accurate, reliable recordings, allowing cardiologists to detect irregularities that may not appear during a routine in-office EKG.
Holter monitoring is crucial for diagnosing and managing conditions such as:
- Arrhythmias that occur sporadically
- Unexplained fainting or dizziness
- Palpitations or irregular heartbeats
- Assessing the effectiveness of heart medications
- Detecting silent heart problems not seen on a standard EKG
Continuous monitoring helps cardiologists make accurate diagnoses and develop tailored treatment plans for optimal heart health.
You will wear a small, lightweight monitor attached to electrodes on your chest. The device records your heart rhythm continuously while you go about your daily routine, including sleep.
During the monitoring period, you may be asked to keep a diary of your activities and any symptoms you experience. After returning the device, our cardiologists review the data thoroughly and provide detailed results and recommendations.
